Conway High School

Conway High School is a public school located in Conway, South Carolina at 2301 Church Street. As of 2010-2011, the school's enrollment was 1,592. The school's principal is Mr. Steven Fitch. The school colors are forest green and gold, and its athletic teams are known as the "Tigers".

History

In 1968, Conway High School and Whittemore High School (the city's African-American high school) merged following desegregation. Conway High's colors had been green and orange, while Whittemore's were purple and gold. The two schools elected to make the new colors of present-day Conway High School green and gold, and also to keep the "Tiger" as the school's mascot (Whittemore's teams were known as the "Bulldogs"). The school has since had notable academic achievements such as the Palmetto Gold and Silver award. also the National Renaissance program was started at Conway in the early 80's. The school is also rated "Excellent" on the state report card. For the 2011-2012 school year the principal will be Steven Fitch, He will take the place of Porter kennington who retired at the end of this last school year.

The Conway High football team has major rivalries with Myrtle Beach High School, Socastee High School, Carolina Forest High School and Marlboro County High School.
